I painted Date Palm after a trip to St. Kitts, where we stayed high above the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. The resort was surrounded by lush, layered tropical foliage in every shade of green and turquoise, each leaf offering its own shape, rhythm, and quiet beauty. That landscape became the inspiration for this series of three tropical leaves, each one painted in a palette that reflects the island’s vibrant, sunlit calm.

This Date Palm stands alone against a clean white background, allowing its long, elegant fronds and soft watercolor transitions to take center stage. The gentle gradients and subtle movement echo the breezy, shaded places that offered both rest and inspiration during our stay.
