I painted Golden Hills as a love letter to the warm, sun‑parched landscapes of Northern California. It takes me back to the drive along Pacheco Pass Highway between Gilroy and Los Banos, where rolling golden grasslands rise and fall in soft waves. Dark clusters of loden‑hued oaks and vegetation gather in the gullies and draws, creating pockets of shadow and depth that feel both familiar and timeless. Those drives are some of my favorite memories, and this piece carries that same quiet warmth.

Painted with only three colors, the scene is intentionally loose, capturing movement, calm, and an understated dreaminess. A turquoise‑blue sky with soft clouds completes the landscape, echoing the feeling of heading toward the I‑5 on a perfect California day.
